Building a world where children are free to dream and pursue a meaningful life they are proud of

WHAT WE DO

Alon and Araw creatively integrates play into values-formation and teaching responsibility within the family, society, and towards the environment. We incentivize and reward good behavior with surfing and beach football and other fun, exciting opportunities.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for disadvantaged children of coastal communities to explore their possibilities so they may learn to uplift themselves from experiencing poverty.

MAIN PROGRAMS

Sports Development through Surfing
and Soccer

Physical Activity has been proven in many research studies to benefit children's development physically, mentally, and emotionally. We provide access to surfing and beach football, and we are always willing to teach new sports. We bring in sporty volunteers who can inspire our kids to maintain an athletic mindset.

Plastic Recycling via
Trash Cash App

We collect clean, dry, and recyclable plastic that is exchanged for points used to purchase basic goods such as rice, canned goods, and condiments. Through our partnership with the local tech startup, Trash Cash PH, we can easily track the data and promote the cause.

Facilitating Outreach Programs for the community

We utilize social media to connect individuals and groups who are passionate to help with our community. The most notable being our Ayuda sa Basura during Typhoon Fabian  where we were able to fundraise for 100 food packs that were distributed to affected families in exchange for their participation in a Coastal Cleanup.

The Community

Alon and Araw Club works within a small, close-knit community living by the coastline who rely on the ocean to survive. The community is made up of fisherfolk families living below the poverty line who are extremely vulnerable to calamities, specifically storms and typhoons that affect their ability to provide for themselves.

The main beneficiaries of our community programs are the children of these fisherfolk families. Our organization rewards participation in our programs with free surfing which keeps the children motivated and active. This is done with the consent of the parents. Currently, we have over 40 children who have participated in our programs.

How to get involved

Since we are a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on donations and volunteers to sustain our programs and activities for the kids. We need as much help as we can get to make as big as an impact to the community.  You may avail our Surf Lessons for a Cause, volunteer your time with the kids, donate in-kind, or give financial aid. Any help will be very much appreciated and will go a long way.
